Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) said 1.9 million eligible voters will exercise their franchise in the local government council election scheduled for Saturday, July 13.

ADSIEC chairman Mohammed Umar disclosed this during the distribution of sensitive materials to be used for the council elections.

The items were distributed at the Adamawa State Police Command’s headquarters in Yola, the state capital. It was observed by security operatives, media, observers, and representatives of various registered political parties.

ADSIEC electoral officers spread across the 21 local government councils were present to receive the materials across their councils.

Announcing that one million, nine hundred and sixty eligible voters in the nooks and crannies of the state will be filing out to exercise their franchise in the exercise slated for tomorrow (Saturday), Umar promised to work round the clock to ensure a level playground ground for all the candidates irrespective of political parties.

He directed the electoral officers to deposit the sensitive materials in the custody of the local government councils’ divisional police offices for distribution at the ward levels.

Umar, who also announced that security is available to ensure a hitch-free election, urged eligible voters to come out en mass to vote for the candidates of their choice.

Representatives of all the registered political parties who monitored the distribution expressed satisfaction.

They urged their supporters to vote for their party’s flag-bearers.

The election will be held in the 226 wards of the 21 local government councils of Adamawa State.
