French man Hervé Renard has been offered the Super Eagles coaching job by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The Eagles are yet to get a new coach following the exit of Finidi George, who resigned and has since been appointed as Rivers United coach.

Following the Eagles’ poor showing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the Executive Committee of the NFF in a meeting in June announced that an expatriate Technical Adviser will be appointed to oversee the team.

After four games played in the World Cup qualifiers, the Eagles are in fifth place on three points in the six-team table.

Now, according to footmercato.net the NFF has approached Renard for the vacant Super Eagles coaching job.

Aside the NFF, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has also offered the Pharaohs coaching job to French coach.

Renard is expected to resign from the French women’s senior national team after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The 55-year-old is no stranger when it comes to handling some of Africa’s heavyweight teams and has two AFCON titles to show for his efforts.

In his second spell as Zambia’s head coach, Renard led the Chipolopolo to their first-ever AFCON title where they defeated a Didier Drogba-led Côte d’Ivoire side on penalty shootout.

Renard was appointed as coach of Côte d’Ivoire in July 2014 and led them to win the 2015 AFCON following another penalty shootout victory against Black Stars of Ghana.

In February 2016, Renard appointed as the new Morocco coach and qualified them to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, their first since 1998.

He led Saudi Arabia to pull one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history following a 2-1 win against Argentina in their opening game of the Qatar 2022.

However, Saudi Arabia lost the other two matches against Poland and Mexico, to be eliminated from the group stage.

On 29 July 2023, he became the first coach to win a match in both the men’s and women’s World Cups after France defeated Brazil in the group stage. France were eventually eliminated on penalties in the quarter-finals, losing to Australia.

Also, in January 2024, the Côte d’Ivoire attempted to temporarily hire Renard for the delayed 2024 AFCON tournament, which was rejected by the French Football Federation.
