Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted various quantities of cocaine and opioids, including tramadol, pentazocine injection, morphine sulphate, and ketamine injection, concealed in the soles of shoes, clothes, and other items destined for shipment to the United States, United Kingdom, and Cyprus.

This was revealed in a statement released on the agency’s website on Sunday.

According to the statement, at least 250 grams of cocaine destined for Cyprus were hidden in the soles of custom-made shoes, while over five kilograms of opioids bound for the US and UK were discovered by NDLEA officers from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigations (DOGI) in clothes and other household items intended for shipping through courier firms in Lagos.

The agency also reported intercepting a consignment of 440 grams of Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis originating from Canada and bound for Lagos, which was intercepted by operatives at one of the logistics companies.

In Edo State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a vehicle with registration number Abuja GWA 273 DD at Ewu junction, Esan Central LGA on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, following credible intelligence.

During a search of the vehicle, the luggage of one of the occupants, Aminu Abdullahi, 32, was found to contain custard containers where 3,000 pills of tramadol 225mg were concealed within the custard powder.

In his statement, the suspect claimed that the drugs were purchased in Onitsha, Anambra State, and he was transporting them to the Mararaba area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for sale.
