The Kano State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a fresh bill for the creation of three emirate councils with second-class traditional authority into law. The passage of the new law tagged Kano State Emirate Council Establishment Bill 2024, comes amid a legal battle over the repealed emirate law which deposed the 15th emir of Kano, Alh. Aminu Ado Bayero, and four others. Moving the bill during Tuesday’s plenary, the deputy speaker of the assembly, Hon. Muhammad Bello Butu-Butu, noted the creation of second-class monarchs would further dignify traditional heritage in the state. Hon. Butu-Butu, who sponsored the bill, explained
