Property companies Wrenbridge and Buccleuch have been awarded the first ever 100% BREEAM score for Nova science, Oxford
Wrenbridge and Buccleuch, UK-based property companies, have been awarded a 100% BREEAM score for their Nova science scheme, located in Oxford.
The score represents the highest possible award in building sustainability from the certification organisation.
The science park is worthy of the 100% BREEAM score
Nova Oxford boasts an area of 43,745 sq ft, and has facilities and utilities to cover Research and Development (R&D), laboratory, and tech uses. It is also in close proximity to the Oxford Science Park, and Arc Oxford.
Due to being constructed with sustainability in mind at every step, the location has an EPC rating of A+, thanks to:
Onsite technology that is low or zero-carbon, such as solar panels for energy
Air source heat pumps
Solar shading system
Prioritised natural lighting
Technology driving water efficiency and leak prevention
Prioritisation of recycling during construction
On-site renewables
46 cycle-parking spaces
50 car park spaces, 25% of which have electric vehicle charging
Sustainable design with a wildlife garden with pond
Wrenbridge and Buccleuch commented on the award:
Alistair Dunsdon, Wrenbridge director, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have turned our ambitious vision into a reality, through this landmark development. To be recognised as the first ever scheme to achieve a 100% BREEAM certificate is remarkable and something we are extremely proud of. This achievement was made possible by the innovation, commitment and collaboration with our trusted partners Buccleuch, our BREEAM consultant – Eight Versa, our Main Contractor – Parkway and the whole design team, they have all been sensational!”
Sandy Smith, Buccleuch Property development director, said: “We are so pleased to have delivered another successful project with Wrenbridge, and in doing so, transforming what was a redundant gas holding tower into the UK’s highest scoring BREEAM project ever. Working collaboratively with all stakeholders has really helped deliver the vision that we and Wrenbridge had for this asset, and we are delighted to have funded another deal with IM Properties.”
