The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership has reappointed property and construction consultancy Gleeds to manage lots for Building for Wales 2 National Frameworks
This is the fifth time since 2007 that Gleeds has been appointed as a supplier for the NHS Wales frameworks.
Gleeds will provide project and cost management services under Lots 1 and 2.
The NHS Wales framework has a value of £615m
The framework’s purposes include ensuring that NHS Wales services comply with best practice procurement models based on long-term strategic partnerships, supporting the Healthier Wales programme, and guiding NHS Wales to become an exemplary organisation for all major construction procurement projects.
It also supports NHS Wales in improving value for money in procuring construction projects via team building, skills development, and strategic partnerships with integrated supply chains.
Delivering projects for the next four years
Gleeds will provide services for projects with a construction value exceeding £20m under Lot 1 and projects £7-20m under Lot 2. This will cover multiple projects over the next four years, with the option to extend the agreement for a further two years.

Expanding the rate of construction for NHS services
The NHS is undergoing several frameworks to boost the construction of its services. In September, the service announced they are seeking a partner for a framework worth £2.6bn.
The framework seeks to tackle the ever-growing list of waiting patients and the shortage of clinical spaces by using offsite modular buildings, which are scalable, adaptable, and cost-effective.
The framework replaces the former framework with an extra £1bn of value, split across seven lots for different sectors, with job values ranging from £5-25m.
According to the NHS website, the Modular Buildings Framework Agreement saw a delivery time that was up to 50% faster than onsite construction. This means faster delivery and patients being seen sooner, as well as cost savings for longer-term solutions.
In July, the Darwin Group commented on this efficiency, stating that modular offsite construction may be the key to clearing the NHS backlog in the long term, as well as lowering building maintenance costs
Bid applications for the new framework closed on 18 November.
