Lora Brill left and Claire Racine right, Ramboll's new sustainability leads

Ramboll has promoted Lora Brill to global head of sustainability for buildings and Claire Racine has joined the team as UK head of sustainability for buildings

Ramboll has today announced the appointment of Claire Racine as its new UK Head of Sustainability for Buildings and Lora Brill’s promotion to Global Head of Buildings Sustainability. These moves come as part of Ramboll’s ongoing strategy to be ‘The Partner for Sustainable Change‘.

Lora and Claire will also be working closely together within Ramboll’s Sustainability Leadership Team, which includes representatives from all geographies and key sectors such as healthcare, data centres, high-rise and complex buildings.

This team focuses on embedding sustainability where it has the greatest impact, while directly addressing the commercial realities of business models.

Claire brings over two decades of built environment experience to the role

Claire, who joins Ramboll from JLL where she was EMEA Head of ESG Strategy, has over two decades of experience working across the built environment with a particular focus on sustainability and regenerative thinking. These experiences, coupled with having been a practicing architect, mean that Claire brings holistic design application expertise and her commercial understanding of clients’ needs.

In her new role, Claire will be using these strengths to support clients in realising their ambitions, and maximising sustainable outcomes that drive the greatest commercial value.

Commenting on her arrival, Claire said: “I am delighted to be joining Ramboll: its design-led approach is naturally aligned with helping clients deliver sustainable buildings and can guide our discussions from the very beginning of a project. Lora’s organisational, leadership, and strategic expertise is evident in the enabling networks and project systems she has put in place over the past year, and I look forward to building on these to further enhance Ramboll’s sustainability offering.

“I have already been hugely impressed by the technical knowledge of my new colleagues and look forward to working closely with them to deliver client sustainability goals across buildings.”

Delivering sustainability on a global stage

Lora’s move to a global role, meanwhile, reflects the scale of the challenge in delivering sustainable buildings, Ramboll’s ambitions in tackling this challenge, and the importance of drawing on talent, data and learnings from across their global footprint.

In her new role she will be spearheading sustainability initiatives that support the global imperative to decarbonise the built environment, initiatives such as Ramboll’s Zebrafish or Co2mpare. By working with Ramboll’s 4,000-strong global buildings experts, she will be driving best practice and innovation, not just in Ramboll, but the wider industry.

Commenting on her new role, Lora said:

“One of Ramboll’s great strengths is our global expertise in sustainability – whether it be in circular economy, biodiversity, resilience, or embodied carbon, to name only a few. To meet the global climate and resilience imperative, we need this collective expertise, and I see my role in ensuring the very best innovations and best practices globally are brought to our clients in a meaningful way by our 4,000 technically articulate and passionate colleagues in our global buildings team.

“I am thrilled to be working with Claire. She embodies the passion for design excellence that Ramboll prides itself on and she will be able to challenge and support clients in unlocking commercially relevant pathways for sustainable building design. Claire brings a wealth of strategic and client-side experience to lead our UK colleagues in delivering innovative solutions to industry challenges such as decarbonisation, climate resilience and adaptive reuse of buildings. Together, alongside our ambitious clients and collaborators, we have significant opportunities and indeed the responsibility to deliver the best solutions and outcomes for all.”
