Homes in the UK do not need mechanical cooling!
We fitted double glazing with ‘K’ glass on the outer panel. Our lounge has windows on three sides and has never been measured to be above 24 degrees Celsius, even on the hottest days when the outside temperature exceeds 30+.
We live in Manchester. I am an FICE; chartered civil engineer of 70+ years.
All new-build should be fitted with heat-reflecting glass on south-facing windows.
The use of mechanical cooling by air-conditioning is unnecessary and should be avoided as this can only contribute to global warming.
