Hybris from Actis is Europe’s only Cradle to Cradle Certified reflective insulation

Insulation specialist Actis has always been at the forefront of innovation – with a focus on creating sustainable products that enable the end users to live in a more environmentally friendly way.

Its honeycomb-structured Hybris insulation has been officially recognised as being a product which is “good for you and good for the planet” and is Europe’s only Cradle to Cradle Certified reflective insulation.

Bronze Cradle to Cradle Certified

Its Bronze certification means Hybris meets stringent sustainability criteria in five areas: product circularity; material health; clean air and climate protection; water and soil stewardship; and social fairness.

Accreditation awards body, global circular economy organisation the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, is dedicated to supporting a circular economy, a system in which materials never become waste and nature is regenerated.

It sees products and materials kept in circulation through processes such as maintenance, reuse, refurbishment, remanufacture, recycling and composting.

Actis Hybris is 100% recyclable

Hybris is 100% recyclable and this, combined with its zero-waste production process which sees all offcuts recovered, crushed and reintroduced into the manufacturing process, enabled it to achieve a silver level in the C2C Certified® product circularity category.

According to management consultancy McKinsey & Co and circular economy charity the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, a circular economy could reduce global carbon emissions from building materials by 38% by 2050.

Hybris contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or harmful chemical components such as formaldehyde, fulfilling the requirement for a product to be safe for human health and the environment.

And it meets the institute’s strict criteria for clean air and climate protection, as it is guaranteed non-irritant and classified A+ for indoor air quality according to the NF EN ISO 16000 standard.

The lightness and compactness of air-filled Hybris means more thermal capacity can be carried per lorryload than traditional solid insulation or fibreglass, thus reducing fuel consumption during transportation.

Actis UK and Ireland sales director Mark Cooper is calling on other construction materials manufacturers to follow his company’s sustainability lead by shifting processes from linear to circular, agreeing with the institute’s mantra that “the pathway to net zero runs through circularity”.
