On 26 November, our team attended the Highways Heroes Awards at the London Hilton, Park Lane – an event dedicated to recognising the people across UK highways who go above and beyond in the face of adversity

It’s one of the few industry evenings that focuses on industry figures making a direct and often life-changing impact on others.

This year’s awards celebrated workers who stepped in during moments of risk or danger, supported members of the public, or showed exceptional care for colleagues.

The stories shared throughout the evening were a powerful reminder of the humanity behind our sector – the calm decision-making, instinctive teamwork, and everyday professionalism that keep people safe.

Time with clients and presenting an award to Darren Yates of Core

We were pleased to host our clients Ollie and Sara Robinson, managing and commercial directors from OLR, who joined us on our table for the night. It was a privilege to share the evening with people who understand first-hand the pressures faced by crews on the ground and the value of acknowledging their efforts.

Re-flow also had the honour of presenting an award to Darren Yates, a team member of our client Core Highways.

Darren was recognised for his remarkable quick thinking, which helped save a member of the public’s life. His actions captured exactly what the Highways Heroes Awards stand for – courage, composure, and an unwavering commitment to others.

We’re proud to celebrate these moments alongside the wider industry.

A night defined by generosity and impact

This year’s event carried an exceptional atmosphere. Attendees donated more than £2,500 worth of gifts to the Salvation Army’s Hoxton branch.

Events like the Highways Heroes Awards offer something rare: a chance to step back, listen, and celebrate the people behind the work. The stories shared this year were a testament to the character, capability, and compassion found across our industry.
