Aston University is offering a new professional BIM course to help and upskill the design and construction sectors
Building Information Modelling (BIM) Specialist is aimed at both professionals and recent graduates with experience in building design, construction and consultancy.
BIM allows construction professionals to plan, design, and construct a structure or building within a 3D model.
This covers the buildings and infrastructure lifecycle, from initial briefing to operation, disposal or reuse.
The new BIM course is the UK’s first Level 7 credit-bearing BIM course which can contribute towards a relevant postgraduate qualification.
The course will offer vital, sector-relevant software skills such as Autodesk Revit and Navisworks Manage and the current BIM ISO 19650 standards, processes and technologies.
Dr Kenneth Park who is leading the course said: “As there is an increased effort to reduce waste in the construction industry, BIM is becoming an increasingly important tool for professionals in the sector.
“It allows for collaboration, addressing supply chain inefficiencies, clashes and reworking, creating a more sustainable and efficient construction process throughout the project lifecycle.”
The course includes a mixture of on-campus and online learning and starts in September 2023.
