• Urges swift action, says agricultural sector worst hit
• APC chieftain urges Tinubu to tackle hunger, others
The Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical and Bishop of Akure Anglican Diocese, Most Rev’d Simeon Borokini, has said that the economic hardship and issue of insecurity in the country have subjected Nigerians to untold hardship.
Borokini, who emphasised that the agricultural sector had been the most impacted by the economic downturn and security situation, expressed concerns that the country that is blessed with all that is required to be a great entity had lost its stem.
The Archbishop stated this, at the weekend, while delivering his charge at the third session of the 14th Diocesan Synod, with the theme “Breaking the Shackles of Sin,” held at St. Michael Anglican Church, Ijare, in Ifedore Local Council of Ondo State.
The bishop, who pleaded with Nigerians to allow President Bola Tinubu to prove his mettle within two years, urged the Federal Government to respond to the yearnings of the people to avert the planned protest by the youths from taking place.
SIMILARLY, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, OlatunbosunOyintiloye, yesterday, urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the issue of hunger and starvation ravaging the country to save the masses from frustration and other challenges.
Oyintiloye, while speaking with journalists in Osogbo, said that majority of Nigerians are hungry and living below the poverty line.
The former lawmaker, who hitherto represented Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, also urged Tinubu not to ignore the United Nations’ (UN) prediction that 82 million Nigerians may go hungry by 2030.
The APC chieftain noted that despite the fact that Nigerians were working hard under different dehumanising conditions, what they were earning was still not enough to sustain them and their families due to inflation.
He, however, urged Tinubu to consider the reopening of the Benin Republic border to solve the food crisis in Nigeria.
