HBD, part of Henry Boot, has revealed its Phase 1 building names as well as the plans for Phase 2 of their scheme
Cyber UK was held in Manchester, hosted by the National Cyber Security Centre when Golden Valley Phase 2 was announced.
Golden Valley is a GDV innovation and technology project in Cheltenham worth £1bn, next to GCHQ.
Golden Valley Phase 2 will boost the UK’s cyber security
The innovation centre will consist of 160,000 sq ft of office space and event facilities, and will be known as the IDEA Innovation Centre. The purpose of the facility will be to inspire and develop ideas in cyber security and technology, and the first phase of the construction is expected to begin this year.
Phase 2 of the scheme features two buildings, named Input and Output, that will provide workspace for leaders and innovators, encouraging collaboration between education, business, and government. They will also bring together industry leaders to shape the future of technology.
Travel is also given importance in Golden Valley as the Router building will act as a transport hub for environmentally friendly movement throughout the valley. Retail, leisure, and wellbeing spaces for Golden Valley residents and the public will also be included.
A planning application has been sent for 1m sq ft of commercial space, a 160,000 sq ft Innovation Centre, and 1,000 residential units in Cheltenham.
“It’s great to be able to share new CGIs of the scheme”
Cabinet office minister, Pat McFadden, said: “We’re already making some big investments, like the billion pounds going into the new state-of-the-art Golden Valley campus near GCHQs Cheltenham office. That site alone is expected to create 12,000 jobs and be home to hospitality, retail businesses and 3,700 new homes. It’s all growth.”
Ed Hutchinson, managing director of HBD, said: “Cyber UK is a major annual event for the cyber and security industry, so it’s important for Golden Valley to take part, continuing to build and strengthen networks and connections within the sector.”
“Work is due to begin on site later this year so it’s great to be able to share new CGIs of the scheme, including the I/O Buildings within phase two, and bring the development to life.”
Councillor Rowena Hay, leader at Cheltenham Borough Council, said: ‘‘Cyber UK offered us the perfect opportunity to showcase phase two of Golden Valley, including the naming of the buildings which will form an integral part of the development. It was an honour to hear that Rt Hon Pat McFadden included the scheme and all that it will offer in his keynote speech and some really great connections were made at the event which will prove invaluable as we move forward.’’
