PBC Today joined Bentley Systems for its annual Year in Infrastructure and Going Digital Awards in Vancouver to celebrate some of the latest digital technologies that are transforming infrastructure projects around the world

Today, engineers must design, build, and operate roads, bridges, water systems, and power grids that are both sustainable and resilient.

At a time when our world and our infrastructure is undergoing profound change, it’s no surprise that the way in which we design, build, and operate infrastructure is also undergoing change.

New digital technologies are leading the way

With digital twins, open data platforms, and AI, we can now create virtual models of any bridge or highway, and even entire cities.

The simplest and fastest way to accelerate to infrastructure intelligence, to drive meaningful infrastructure outcomes, is to get your data ready for AI.

At the Year in Infrastructure and Going Digital Awards 36 finalists had the opportunity to present their projects to a panel of expert judges. Each team was allocated 20 minutes to show how they’re using Bentley software to make infrastructure more sustainable and resilient.

Day 1 explored some of the some cutting edge technologies that are using AI and generative AI including iLab.

The iLab team transformed the exhibition room into a virtual time machine, leading visitors on a high tech journey through the history of infrastructure.

Bentley announces new partnership with Google

Day 2 welcomed the news of a new strategic partnership between Bentley and Google,
based on a shared vision of sustainable infrastructure.

The partnership demonstrates the power of open standards that enable easy data integration, allowing organisations to access the tools, data, and insights that they need whenever they need them.

Day 2 also saw another innovative application called Open Site Plus. Open Site Plus is powered by generative AI, allowing engineers to create site designs 10 times faster.

AI will not replace people. It will complement people with automation and unlock productivity gains.
