The global construction and consultancy firm, Mace, has appointed David Glennon as the new group head of digital engineering

Glennon has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry and has experience in introducing cutting-edge technology to improve operations at various leading companies.

Glennon’s experience includes serving as the senior digital delivery director for Red Sea Global, managing director of DoubleD.io, head of digital for Arcadis, and director of digital project delivery at AECOM. He has also held major roles at Mott MacDonald and Lend Lease.

Mace prepares itself for digitisation in the built environment

Glennon’s arrival at Mace has been timed to align with the company’s ongoing digitisation of its built environment sector. As new technologies emerge, there is an increasing demand for a workforce with updated skill sets.

Over the last five years, Mace has invested around £325m into the research and development of new technologies and skills. This has helped the company achieve key milestones such as the ‘Jump Factory’ project, which was completed in 2018, the Mace Tech business launched in 2019, and a Net Zero Carbon commitment in 2020.

David Glennon will help leverage new technologies

In his role, Glennon will spearhead Mace’s digital initiatives and use emerging technologies to improve value for the company’s clients.

“I am thrilled to be joining Mace at such a pivotal time in both the adoption of technology across the industry and as the business matures into its business strategies,” David said.

“I believe my knowledge and experience of driving and embedding digital adoption across the sector will help this unique organisation grow as it continues to deliver world-class results for its clients across the globe,” he added.

“I am thrilled to be welcoming David Glennon to the team at such an exciting time for the business as we drive forward the delivery of our business strategies,” commented Stephen Jeffery, chief technical officer at Mace.

“David brings an abundance of knowledge and experience in the adoption and implementation of technological innovation, which is undoubtedly of significant benefit to projects, clients and colleagues across the entire Mace group.”
