The Shard, of which Mace Construct (until its Mace Construct rebrand later this year) worked on

Following the majority investment acquisition by Goldman Sachs Alternatives last year, the Mace Group will be changing lanes with both their Construct arm and Mace Consult

Later this year, a Mace Construct rebrand will take place to reflect “the firm’s proud heritage and bold ambitions for the future.”

This is set to take place once the transaction on their acquisition closes, and at the same time Mace Consult will “take an independent path.”

A fresh growth strategy

Currently, Mace Construct is the sixth largest contractor in the UK, as well as the second largest privately owned contractor. They have also achieved Contractor of the Year 12 times in 14 years.

They have worked on major UK projects such as The Shard and Battersea Power Station.

The new name, when announced, is expected to reflect a new approach to growth for the company. Mace Consult, on the other hand, is expected to keep its name and continue to grow, owned by the Mace Group.

Jason Millett, group chief executive at Mace, said: “Since we were founded in 1990, Mace has continued to evolve as we’ve grown; from a boutique consultancy to the leading London contractor, and now to one of the globe’s foremost programme and project managers.

“We are pleased today to be announcing the next chapter in that story. Mace Consult will become an independent organisation in January, led by Davendra Dabasia as CEO. We have worked hard over the past decade to establish ‘Mace’ as a global benchmark for exceptional programme delivery, and we think it is right that Davendra and his team are able to continue to build on the strength of that brand in Consult’s growth markets across the world.

“Here in the UK, we believe there is an opportunity for Mace Construct to evolve once again, adopting a new name and identity that leverages our established relationships and reputation for construction delivery, setting a bold path forward with a new vision and a renewed focus on what our people stand for and what our teams are here to deliver.

“For the time being, both Mace Consult and Mace Construct will continue to operate under the Mace brand – but during 2026 we’ll be working with Construct’s colleagues, clients, suppliers and partners to develop something truly exciting. It’ll be a co-created new identity built around our legacy in London and who we are today – a bold and innovative contractor – with a clear view of what we want to achieve together in the future.”

Goldman Sachs Alternatives (GSA) now majority owns Mace Consult

Announced in July last year, GSA made a majority investment into the consulting branch via a ‘carve-out’, making the branch an independent business.

As such, a new board was created, but Davendra Dabasia was allowed to maintain his role as CEO of Mace Consult.

Davendra said: “I am excited to lead Mace Consult on this next stage in our journey, working in close partnership with Goldman Sachs Alternatives.

“Our teams around the world have delivered exceptional growth over the past few years, and our new partnership will enable us to build on that to become the world’s leading delivery consultant.

“As a standalone business, we will be positioned to further support our global infrastructure and built environment clients by scaling up at pace in North America and enhancing our digital solution delivery for clients.”
