The Home Builders Federation has made the appointment to replace the former director after their retirement last month
Andy George, head of talent management at Barratt Redrow, is to take on the role of director of industry attraction and skills at HBF.
He will replace Jenny Herdman as she retired from the role of director of home building skills partnership in March.
The new director of industry attraction and skills has a wealth of experience
Andy has worked in the home building industry for around 20 years, and has worked on several critical development frameworks and strategies in homebuilding, hospitality, and supermarkets.
Andy also has experience in HR and development roles.
He has previously acted as the Home Building Skills Partnerhsip expert panel, has chaired the HBF Skills and Supply Chain Engagement group, and the HBF Career Attract Group, Andy is already well positioned to work with the HBF.
The Home Building Skills Partnership is being transitioned to a separate brand, which is why Andy will have a different title to his predecessor, as it will now be known as the HBF Industry Attraction and Skills team.
“Andy’s breadth of experience securing diverse pipelines of talent will be crucial”
Andy George, director of industry attraction and skills, says: “I am delighted to be joining HBF at this exciting time for the industry and look forward to collaborating with its members as part of HBF’s Industry Attraction and Skills team.”
On Andy’s appointment, Neil Jefferson, HBF’s chief executive, said: “The delivery of much-needed housing depends on a skilled workforce and, with the Government’s ambitious targets, this is a pivotal time for the homebuilding industry to tackle the skills crisis.
“Andy’s breadth of experience securing diverse pipelines of talent will be crucial as we work to address the skills gap in the sector.”
