Gareth Jones has been appointed as the new GMI construction group managing director, from Midlands divisional managing director
Gareth Jones has been promoted to GMI construction group managing director.
He has been promoted from his role as divisional managing director for the Midlands.
New GMI construction group managing director has been key for the company
As divisional managing director for the Midlands, Gareth was key to expanding the company’s presence in the region through diversifying the portfolio of projects in the Midlands.
These projects include MIRA Technology Park, St Francis Developments, Trebor Developments, Evans Property Group, and the Alumno Group.
As a result, the Midlands division now contributes £85m towards the company revenues.
Gareth’s experience is vast
Gareth brings 20 years of experience in the construction industry, starting at 17 as a trainee site engineer with Galliford Try, whilst studying construction management and civil engineering.
Gareth stayed with Galliford Try for 12 years, moving on to site management and project management roles before reaching 24.
Gareth then joined GMI construction as a construction manager, then spending two years as construction director and then divisional managing director for the Midlands.
Gareth said: “I am absolutely delighted to be leading GMI in achieving its strategic objectives, alongside continuing to place our people at the forefront of the group. We have developed a fantastic business working with some outstanding clients across our core regions.
“Our contribution to the development of the built environment in Yorkshire, the North East, North West and the Midlands continues to be an essential part of the UK economy, through the creation of employment opportunities, new homes and business premises. This is a huge achievement that I’m incredibly proud of and I look forward to working closely with colleagues and clients across our key regions.”
