Nigerian-American country singer, Shaboozey, has reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his hit single “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” This marks Shaboozey’s first number-one song on the chart.

A historic achievement

Shaboozey, whose real name is Collins Obinna Chibueze, also joins Beyoncé as the only Black artiste to have a song reach number 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts. This dual achievement is a historic achievement, as no song by a Black man or one known to be biracial had previously topped both charts. Shaboozey is the second Black artiste overall to achieve this feat, following Beyoncé’s success with “Texas Hold ‘Em” earlier this year.

The Billboard Hot 100 is the music industry’s standard chart for tracking the popularity and success of a song in the United States. The ranking is determined by a song’s streaming, sales, and radio airplay. Furthermore, a song reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart means that the track has attained commercial success.
