
The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has released information on the six projects shortlisted for the award in Wales
The RSAW Welsh Architecture Award is the first step for projects on the journey towards the RIBA Stirling Prize.
The winners of this award will be considered for the RIBA National Award.
The six projects are as follows:
- Alma House by Benham Architects
- Iorwerth Jones by Pentan Architects
- Pantybara by Rural Office
- Porthmadog House by Strom Architects
- Severn View Park by Pentan Architects
- St Beuno’s Jesuit Spirituality Centre, East Wing by Chambers Conservation Limited
RSAW jury chair and director at Hall+ Bednarczyk, Martin Hall, said: “Covering the length and breadth of Wales, the shortlisted projects exemplify the talent shown by their architects and construction teams. Whether solving important social needs in elder care and housing with high standards and compassion, responding creatively to historic buildings, or showing virtuosity in the design of one-off dwellings, the six shortlisted buildings are a credit to the nation’s building culture.”
Several RIBA awards are being judged at the same time
Earlier this week, the shortlist for the RIBA South West and Wessex Awards 2026 was revealed with 17 projects, including:

- House in the South-West by Witherford Watson Mann
- Lyme Bay View by Barc Architects
- Meadow Bank by MJW Architects
- Modern Barn by Coffey Architects
- Oolite House by Studio Bark
- Purdown View by Stride Treglown
- Rammed Earth House by Tuckey Design Studio
- SeaSpace Cornwall by Kay Elliott Architects
- Sky House by Klas Hyllen Architecture
- Stable House by Taw Fitzwilliam Architects
- The Buttermarket by Architectural Thread
- The Creamery by Stonewood Design
- The Pavilion at Cowley Manor by De Matos Ryan
- TQEC Research Hub by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris
RIBA South West and Wessex jury chair, Sam Goss, founding director at Barefoot Architects, said: “This year’s shortlist reflects the breadth, ambition and quality of work being delivered by practices across the South West. The projects demonstrate a commitment to craft, with sensitive and often inventive responses to our landscape, towns and cities, alongside thoughtful explorations of materials and construction. Traditional building types are reimagined alongside innovative architectural approaches, resulting in work of real diversity and distinction.
“Each shortlisted project is clearly the product of close collaboration between committed clients, skilled contractors and dedicated design teams, united in the pursuit of buildings and landscapes that exemplify the highest standards of conservation, design excellence and environmental sustainability.”
