Tideway seeking contractor for super sewer testing phase

As Tideway’s super sewer nears completion, a contractor is needed to undertake around 3,000 planned maintenance works across 21 London sites

As the super sewer project from Tideway reaches 85% completion, the team are readying to enter the ‘system acceptance’ phase. The main tunnel and connection tunnels have been fully excavated in the 25km long tunnel, due to complete works in 2025.

Giant tunnel boring machines, similar to those used in HS2, excavated the main tunnels for the project.

Tideway is now seeking a contractor to partner with for 3,000 planned maintenance activities on MEICA and civils assets located at the surface and just below across 21 London sites.

The ten-year contract will have an estimated annual spend of £7m

These tests will ensure the super sewer and associated infrastructure function as designed.

The contractor will also react to any unprecendented maintenance activities.

The super sewer’s main tunnel, its connection tunnels, shafts and other deep civils elements are not included in the scope of the contract.

Ventilation equipment, pumps, penstocks, electrical equipment, instrumentation, civils structures, and more will be the focus of this particular partnership.
