The two journalists who were abducted in Kaduna with their families have regained their freedom from the hands of terrorists.

It would be recalled that the Nation Newspaper correspondent, AbdulGafar Alabelewe, and Abdul Aoudu of Blueprint Newspaper were kidnapped with their children and wives from their homes last Saturday.

However, the wife of Aoudu was released on the grounds of illness by the bandits on the way to the terrorists’ den.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Hajiya Asma’u Halilu, in a statement on Saturday, announced the duo and their families have regained their freedom.

She wrote, “Dear Esteemed colleagues, to the glory of God Almighty, our colleagues, Abdulgafar Alabelewe, Abduraheem Aodu, and their families have been released.

“The Council extends her profound gratitude to the office of the CP, Kaduna State Command, the office of the NSA, the DG, DSS, the Inspector General of Police, Kaduna State government, the NUJ President, and all well-meaning Nigerians that prayed along with us during the trying time.

“We will soon announce when they will join us in Kaduna so that we can visit, rejoice, and glorify God with them.”

Meanwhile, when the Guardian called the Kaduna State Police Spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan, for comments, he said the Command will issue a statement later.
