The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the rescue of three persons who were trapped at a building that collapsed on Monday night at Unity House, Area 11, by Nkwerre Street, Garki.
The command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, in a statement on Tuesday, noted that the victims have been rushed to the hospital for medical care.
“In response to the distress call, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, promptly moved to the scene with multiple patrol teams as first responders to cordon off the area for possible rescue,” Adeh stated.
“Three (3) victims were successfully evacuated from the collapsed building and rushed to the hospital for medical care.”
She noted that the attention of the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria and FCT Development Control has been drawn to the situation.
Adeh added that the two agencies’ personnel have taken charge of the area for robust management of the scene.
The policewoman, however, noted that further developments would be appropriately communicated in due course.
