Visitors to a timber frame factory in Sussex next month will be able to experience a barn conversion live in action as part of a tour being hosted by Scandia-Hus, with support from insulation specialist Actis
Scandia-Hus uses Actis products on all its show homes – and is now demonstrating its use to builders and self-builders on a barn conversion project taking place at its Billingshurst factory.
The event, on 3 July, comes only weeks after another Scandia-Hus ‘live build’ featuring Actis products at an open day at the company’s HQ. The event saw one of its homes insulated in real time as around 200 visitors toured the site.
Discover the benefits of using Actis insulation products
Some of the Actis specification team will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions and explain the many benefits of using its reflective insulation products.
Scandia-Hus, in one of its build diaries, explains: “We’ve partnered with Actis for many years, and their systems continue to deliver outstanding results. The effectiveness, speed and ease of installation make Actis products ideal for our custom builds.
“The innovative heat-trapping honeycomb design of their Hybris insulation ensures every gap between the structural timbers is filled, reducing the risk of thermal bridging. In addition, the reflective vapour control layer (VCL) helps regulate internal temperatures, keeping the property warm in winter and cooler through increasingly hot summers.
“From a practical perspective, Actis panels are simple to cut accurately and straightforward to fit, slotting neatly into place. This not only minimises material wastage but can also reduce installation times by up to 30% compared to more traditional insulation methods.
“By combining thermal performance with airtightness, vapour permeability, moisture resistance, and reflective technology, the Actis system provides a comprehensive and high-performing insulation solution that perfectly aligns with our commitment to building energy-efficient, comfortable homes fit for the future.”
Take part in guided tours around the Scandia-Hus factory
In addition to the barn conversion live build, which offers a chance to see internal walls and structural elements being fabricated, visitors will enjoy guided factory tours, watch timber frames being fabricated, and discuss their ideas with the Scandia-Hus team.
