The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is seeking to appoint five new members to the Architects Registration Board in 2026 and 2027
The new Architects Registration Board (ARB) members will consist of four architect members and one lay member to fill the vacancies that have already arisen or will become available soon.
Two architect members are needed in 2026, and two architect members and a lay member are needed in 2027.
Architects Registration Board members ensure effective governance and decision-making
ARB members ensure that the board delivers its statutory functions in the public interest. They also set ARB’s strategic direction and oversee its performance.
Together, Architects Registration Board members bring a wide range of experience and perspectives to support effective governance, robust decision-making, and public accountability.
Alan Kershaw, ARB board chair, stated: “ARB’s Board plays a central role in ensuring that we deliver our statutory responsibilities effectively and in the public interest.
“As we continue to implement our Corporate Strategy and respond to the opportunities and challenges facing the profession, the contribution of board members has never been more important.”
Help make a positive contribution to the built environment
This is an important time for the ARB as it continues to deliver the ambitions set out in its Corporate Strategy.
The appointments offer interested individuals an opportunity to help shape the future of the profession and support its positive contribution to the built environment.
Kershaw concluded: “Serving on the Board is a rewarding opportunity to help shape the future of architectural regulation and support a profession that makes a profound contribution to our built environment.
“I encourage anyone who shares our commitment to high standards, good governance and public confidence to consider applying.”
Candidates can apply for these roles using the Public Appointments website.
